Little Mead, Brendon, Devon.
Little Mead is a holiday cottage in an idyllic area, on the edge of the village of Brendon, surrounded by wooded hills, providing complete seclusion – ideal for walkers, horse riders or fishermen.
Quiet and tranquil Brendon is only 3 miles from the Doone Valley and the picturesque towns of Lynton and Lynmouth.
Footpaths criss cross the area over the open moor, through wooded valleys and along the spectacular Exmoor coast line
It is an easy drive to the pretty village of Porlock along the dramatic scenic coast road
To the west are the superb beaches of Croyde and Woolacombe.
Just up the lane from Littlmead is the old stone bridge and ford at Malmsmead. The old and ancient farmhouse and buildings have recently been taken over by the National Trust; you will find an excellent tearoom and garden. From Malmsmead the walk up the Doone Valley is a real treat, accompanied by the picturesque Badgworthy Water all the way. Further up the lane you will come to the hamlet of Oare, be sure to visit the Church and find the small window through which – the legend has it – the wicked Carver Doone shot Lorna on her wedding day. Luckily, she survived and lived happily ever after!
